Need Help with Vista Ultimate x64

Hello guys, im new to this forum. I recently installed windows vista x64 on my computer (4 days go) and today i turned it on and saw the typical "windows is finishing updating" screen at the welcome screen. Well now my mouse, sound, keyboard, and internet are not working. I guess this is due to that update that i got since it was working perfectly before it. My machine is the gateway 5628. Its pretty much stock. Please help me.. Thanks a lot guys.

Ps. Mouse and keyboard work during boot so i figured is a software problem.

Try booting in Safe Mode. See if there is a choice to use "last known good" configuration or a restore point made before that last update. I never allow Windows to auto update. Why risk hosing a working system? Better to put on specific updates that solve a problem you have rather than taking a shotgun approach when you didn't have a problem at the start.
