Vista VERY Slow Startup

Hey guys, new to the forums here. Got my computer two months ago...

Specs:
HP Pavilion
8 GB of RAM
Intel Q9300
Nvidia GeForce G210..
Vista 64-bit

The first two weeks were fine, the computer was running good. Anyways now I have problems..

My computer takes really long to boot up.. probably about a minute or two trying to boot up, then when you get to the login screen and enter your password, the welcome screen is stuck for 20 seconds!

After that, the computer is slowly loading...

What's the problem here? I reformatted the computer FIVE times, and it's still slow...

I already ran hardware tests and everything passed. Also spoke to HP customer support... he took control of my computer... ran some tests etc... everything was good.

If anyone has idea's as to what could be wrong, please do... I don't know what the hell I'm gonna do with this computer lol ..

There may be a lot of big startup programs. Programs like Norton or alike take a lot of time to come up. So does the sidebar.Disable ALL startups for a rest - just to see whether that is it.
This is more of a disk problem than a processor or RAM problem. I just installed a win7 on an SSD (on the same system as my Vista on an HDD). There is a world of difference . Vista boot 2+ minutes, win7 boot 15 seconds.

Have already tried that, will try again.. and report back results! Maybe it's just Vista is a garbage OS..

time to upgrade to win7 perhaps?

Don`t knock Vista. It`s my favorite. Win7 is nice, but it is not all sunshine either.

Meh, I wouldn't knock on Vista if it wasn't this horrible...
