Hi,
I have a Vista Business machine which is not auto-playing DVDs correctly. I have installed VLC and am trying to get Vista to use it to auto play DVDs but it always opens Windows Media Player instead. I have set VLC as the default player for DVDs in the AutoPlay part of Control Panel. I have also ticked the 'Always use this program' box when the auto-play dialog appears but it still defaults to media player.
I can play the DVD using VLC if I right-click the drive in explorer and choose 'Play using VLC' but if I double click the drive or right-click and choose 'Play', it uses media player instead.
I've tried disabling and re-enabling Autoplay but it makes no difference. I've also tried resetting to defaults then picking VLC again but still no difference. I've tried the registry hack here: The VideoLAN Forums • View topic - Add VLC Player to autoplay menu on vista 64 bit? but to no avail.
Any suggestions much appreciated!
