Greetings all:
Working on a 2006 Systemax Box 2 Gig of Ram Celeron 3.0 Ghz processor....
Has a X300 SE Radeon card...original problem was graphic corruption: vertical bands of dashes, mouse trails (when there shouldn't be), and booting into Vista sometimes failed. Replaced graphics driver and that seemed to do the trick....but when I left the computer on for hours as a test it did freeze in Windows (no auto shutdown which makes me suspect it's not the CPU). Tried another test video card with latest drivers earlier and that produced the same artifacts.
Now, with the case panel off, and a fan blowing directly in, the computer works perfectly for hours and hours. When I removed the fan, an hour later the machine locked up. The card is a passive card. Should I get a PCI fan to blow directly on the card? Any thoughts on how I should proceed? Components all seem coolish to touch and fans are all engaged. Many thanks in advance.
