Mouse pad on Acer 5290G has stopped working

    Hello
Using the above laptop my mouse pad has stopped working.
Now this may have happened when i tried an external wireless mouse by plugging it into a USB Port this works OK but if i remove it and try the mouse pad this has now ceased working.
Can any one help this elderly gentleman (80 and still going strong)
    Thank you
    jaysto

    Welcome to the Forum

Make sure mouse pad is still turned on.
On the older acer to turn on or off.
FN & F7 turns off the touch pad. Not sure if it is still the same.
http://en.kioskea.net/faq/1902-disable-enable-the-touchpad. This May not be applicable to your computer, but I think that it might be.

Go to search type device manager and make sure that the driver is up to date
make sure thare are no yellow warning markers in the device manger

Try using system restore to a point, when it was working

    Hello Richard
I first checked the device manger all seemed to be ok. I then tried your suggestion FN and F7. Bingo the laptop mouse pad is now up and running.
Thank you very much. Compliments of the season to you and yours.
