Solved Access Denied messages everywhere

Hi,

There is something very strange going on with my Vista installation. Its been running fine for over a year, now I am getting access denied messages on many of my directories. When I install a new app, i can't access the directory on the computer.

My user acc is part of the administrators group. As far as I can tell, all the affected directories do have the administrators group added in. The computer did crash yesterday, so I did a chkdsk/f which found & fixed a load of errors.

Any ideas folks?

I do have Norton always running. It has a daily schedule set for the end of the day, but I will run one now. Any other thoughts how I can overcome this?

Switching User account Control On seemed to do the trick. No viruses found. I don't even remember turning UAC off. Fingers crossed this will solve the problem. Thanks for everyones quick support.

At the moment, I would say that yes it has helped. I did a test installing / removing 2 sample applications. I now have access to those directories. Solved.
