HD in docking station not showing up after formatting

I gave up. I surrendered. I capitulated. I waved the white flag.

After attempting a format for 51 hours and the process was only 65% completed, I shut the docking station off.

Then I left clicked on "start", right clicked on "Computer", left on "manage", which opened the "Computer Management" window. Under "storage" I left clicked on "Disk Management" and I saw the "New Volume" was 65% completed.

I wanted to try a "quick format" (because the non-quick one sure as heck wasn't working) so I right clicked on "New Volume" and clicked on "format". I then typed in F as the volume label and checked the box named "Perform a quick format", then "OK".

The list of volumes window opened up and listed COMPAQ (C: ), F, & Recovery (D: ).

After only 3 minutes, the info to the right of F said the "layout" was simple; the "type" was Basic; the "file system" was NTFS & the "status" was Healthy (Primary Partition) Sounds to me that it is now formatted, but do I know?

In the window below, it says "Disk 1" F, 1397.26 GB NTFS Healthy (Primary Partition). The blue line above that small window goes all the way from left to right.

The problem is, when I go to "start", then computer, the new HD is NOT listed.

Is there anything I can do to see it? Is it really there?

Thank you,
Tony

Tony,
Your machine ( Home Basic ) does not have Snipping Tool.
If you want to take a screenshot as you are told to....

1. You can use the built-in " print screen " application.
How to use " print screen " to do screen-capture in Home Basic ?
How Do I Print Screen on Vista Home Basic? | eHow.com

2. Install Snipping Tool's alternative .... Snippy.
Snipping download : Snippy

Note : #1 is a better choice than snippy.
