Solved Windows wants to format all flash drives.

My Vista 64 bit laptop suddenly wants to format every flash drive (sticks and SD photo cards) I put in it. The drives work in other computers (and my photos appear when I put the SD cards in my camera).
I have tried all the solutions I have found on similar threads, i.e. uninstalled all usb drivers and sd card controllers in Device Manager and let them reload with a new start, and scanned for viruses with MS Essentials and Malewarebytes (full scans with each).

Note: non-flash devices still work in the usb ports (standard HDDs, and mice).

Thanks for helping in advance.

Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately the Fix It didn't find anything.

BTW, as another possible symptom of the problem, my mouse keeps getting the "this device can perform faster" pop-up even though it is already in a fast port, and I keep un-checking the box for it to keep checking if it can perform faster.

I have been having this problem for months, and could not get an answer. I could not download from my usb video cam, or connect any usb thumb drive. I ran sfc/scannow and it was fixed!! Thank you!!
