Can someone please help me with the followiing error?
Windows can't open Add a Printer Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006b5)
I am able to run Add a printer using the command prompt rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /il"
When the Add a printer window opens I get as far as selecting the port and there are no ports listed not even in the drop down. It worked fine yesterday and nothing new has been installed or uninstalled. I have tried disconnecting my printer from the desktop and rebooting without the printer and then reconnecting the printer and rebooting, Nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium x64.
I admit I even tried to add the printer on my Vista Laptop, Windows 7 laptop and the printer seems to be crapping out on each one. I am thinking it is possible my printer is dead but can someone confimr that?

Thanks ruchc46 & wither 3
I will borrow my neighbors printer and try it. I really do have a feeling the printer is messed up. It's a cheap Dell printer that I have had for about 4 years.
I ran the MS Fix It and it came back that it could not find the printer. Fixed the spooler but the printer could not be repaired. The printer did not come with a CD.
Re: Windows can't open Add a Printer Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000
Thanks wither 3. Tried to switch ports, same error. so I went into run and low and behold the msconfig was autofilled which meant someone was screwing with my Startup settings. Set them to default for now, restarted and got a new error.
Windows cannot connect to the printer, Operation could not be completed (Error0x00000006)"
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and it still errored out.
Per richc46 ... I hooked up another printer and it worked fine. I give up. That printer is being trashed and I am ordering a new Laser printer. :D

Its best to spend a few dollars and quickly have a working printer, rather than spend a lot of time and then have the same result. You made a good choice. Good Luck

Thanks richc46! I couldn't agree more. :D
I am just using alt print screen for now to pay bills. LOL At least it lets me store my receipts until the new printer arrives. I went with a Laser printer instead of the ink jet. We rarely print in color so it is a better option for my family. The photos I print I usually just order from Shutterfly.
