Just in the last week or so, when I open my Internet Explorer 9, which is set to default to Google webpage, instead of going to http:, it goes to https:. How do I default to the URL http:? I have many years experience of "just using" my computer, but am not very familiar with computer terminology and acronyms. I am 77 years old, but not senile YET. My computer is a Compaq Presario running Vista O/S. Thank you for any help.

Welcome
I tested on my computer and went to www.google.com. It is shown as https. There is nothing that you can do. Google is given you a secure page, that is all the https means. The Https is set up by Google and it can not be changed by the computer owner.
If I have misunderstood your question, please give us a screen shot of what you see.

Based upon this article written in 2010, it is my opinion that Google no longer offers the option of https or just http, as they did in 2010.
