Solved New motherboard

Hi, can anyone help me with some info please? I have bought another motherboard and want to move away from XP to vista or windows7. I have since been told that this motherboard doesn't support these later systems. Is this fact or can I instal these systems. The motherboard is an "asus p5b-e plus". Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, mike

Hello Mick, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Looking at your motherboard specs and available downloads at the ASUS links below, I don't see why you couldn't install Vista or Windows 7 if you like. :)

Personally, I would go with Windows 7, and would recommend at least 4GB of RAM.

Brinks posted links taks you to the driver download section that has Win7 drivers, so I'd bet yes... Plus i've got a system older than that running 7.

Please note that you need a retail disk to be able to install 7 on any computer. Disks from manufacturer's won't work on systems other than their's and doing so would be a violation of Microsoft's terms of service.

Not really, you can call MS and explain the situation and 99.5% of the time they'll reactivate it.
