Thumbnail Cache always loading slow 1st time

Lately I don't know what is causing it. I open a folder of images or icons & the thumbnails load up slow the 1st time, some folders worse & some better than others.

I have done disk defrag, chkdsk at startup, run virus scan, run ccleaner to clear my thumbnail cache a few times.

Still the same. These are the only causes I can think of.

Dying HDD? really? all of a sudden?

Dying GPU? I doubt it as there are no other symptoms & games run fine.

Screwed up registry? Are there any suggestions on anything to look for?

Would these 2 services "Offline Files" or "Windows Presentation Foundation Font cache" disabled cause this?

I know you ran CCleaner but, have you run the Windows Disk Cleanup utility from Accessories and rebooted?

What could cause Thumbnail Cache to get so large?

I deleted it all & right now after generating all folders again, its all about 35MB. Yet after a few weeks it got to 480MB.

I viewed the cache with a viewer & there is no new content which would make sense as I don't add anything like new images etc.

But this is unacceptable BS, as it seems to be the cause of slow horrible haphazardous loading of thumbnails.


So what would cause this? Thank you.
