Ack! Windows DVD Maker disk won't play on Toshiba player

Newly created 30 minute DVD, made from Windows DVD Maker, won't play on my Toshiba DVD Player. To compound the problem, I intended to use this dvd to give a presentation in a few days, and I'll be using a different DVD Player. Why won't this disk run and what can I do to FIX THE PROBLEM!?

Made on PC (HP Pavilion Entertainment), burned on PC, attempting to play on Toshiba set top player. No go.

Sorry, I don't understand.

In cd/dvd burner software is usually an option to close the session, but its still writable. On such a disc it can only be read/played by the machine it was made on. This option is typically the default. Of course, that various by the software.

Also there is an option to close the session and the cd/dvd. Unless you close the cd/dvd, it will only be readable by the machine it was created/files saved on.

This is typically, but could be somewhere else in the program, in the 'details button' section of the burner software.

Thank you. I'm not very computer savvy, I'm afraid (don't write me off, people, I'm trying!). In Windows DVD Maker, when the Mastered Burn is complete, the disc is automatically ejected from the drive. There is no opportunity now to "Close the Session" (tried the steps you suggested). Am I missing something else?

Did you burn it on a CD or DVD? The next thing is to make sure you closed it correctly. When you select to burn a disk, there should be several options as to what to use. Make sure you select the right format for your DVD player (it is by country).

Yes, thanks. As mentioned above, "closing" didn't seem to be an option since the dvd ejected itself when it was done burning. I have checked the formatting options, and the default is correct for my country.

You may just want to check the settings then.

I'm wondering, now, if it's just my DVD player. I'd guess this machine is...maybe...5 or 6 years old. Toshiba SD3950. Does it have something to do with the lasers in this player?
