I Don't want to use XP anymore

When I go to work or work on my family's computers, I find myself wishing XP would die. That may sound harsh, but it has lived a good long life. Maybe saying I wish XP would pass away of old age sounds better. Vista's small improvements like "search in the start bar" and improved UI make using the PC a better experience. Vista has several "little things" that have made XP not so good anymore. I find working on XP to be more like Windows 95 or 98. I wish they would announce the end of XP sooner rather than later. Does anyone else have to suffer with XP at work?

i didnt like using it on my bro's pc so i upgraded that too. Simply trying to connect to a network to use file sharing is so much hassle compared to vista.

I was just at work trying to tell someone over the phone how to find a file in XP. It took 20 minutes. If he had Vista he could have just pushed start and typed it! Why do people hate Vista? I don't get it.

overall im very staisfied with the vista platform, it is a newer OS that we just need to learn a little more about. I found the tutorials section very useful to understand core chemistry of vista. Check it out for some great info!!

So true....one of the great 'quotes' of Confuscus. When I reflect back on how I taught my Self to use and understand the workings of the computer and software! Having had a computer lobbed on my desk whilst recovering from a serious illness, could not even manipulate the mouse as my family stood behind me in mirth at my awkward attempts. From that day I would type in 'tutorial on (whatever)' then clicked search 'go', printed each one out and filed them in a folder afterwhich would follow the tutorial instructions step by step. By seeing each step unfold it enabled me to believe in what I was doing. By the time I had 'seen' and 'done' each step slowly & meticulously I could surely understand fully giving me just reason to cheer at the final results. Not bad going for a Senior+ now up to my 8th book title. Success! No time to get bored for me! Good luck to all who try and 'do' rather than just talk or think about it!

and i also agree franscesco22, i thenk that vista is an exploited sytem that many are scared to/or reluctant to take the leap into the new OS. Anyone who is first running vista should take a couple of days running through the tutorials on this website to really learn how to harness the power within vista. Anyone who says vista is a piece of dhit did not even bother to understand the system!!

Amen - A lot of people don't want to learn. They get into a "comfort zone" The bad thing about that is what benefit is that to you. We need to keep learning. It's better for your work life, home life, and your mind in general. I love to learn (except in school) and can't wait to get my hands on Windows 7 after a good year with Vista.

The tutorials on this site are so valuable it's not even funny. Thanks so much to all the people who made them. (Brink this means you)) and all the others too)

I just left my Moms house. She has XP and had a popular malware infection (which I removed) Working with XP feels like it's 6 years old. Oh.....it is.

I love XP!

I have XP on one machine and Vista x64/Windows 7 x64 on my laptop in dual-boot.
I guess I am use to XP and I use XP at work (Monday-Friday) so that's why I love it probably.

I prefer Vista to XP, but have no problem using XP at work or on my wife's computer. Used to do tech support for an ISP though so configuration of file sharing, network, etc doesn't bother me on either OS.

You want a software package that needs to die...try LOTUS NOTES...forced to use it at work and it's t-e-r-r-i-b-l-e....

True, XP is good software. It's just old. I had an Apple 2C too. It was good at the time. I loved that "basic" programming. Copying 300 pages of code into the Apple 2C and having the program not work at the end. XD is just getting old. If it still works for you....that's great. I can't wait until MS stops supporting it. haha.

P.S. Dont show this thread to the "save XP" people. That would cause heart attacks and nobody want's anyone to get hurt.

And not bashing the fact that XP is great OS, the year's that have been put into it have made it a stable, up-to-date operating system like 98SE once upon a time(and it took me YEARS to accept 98SE was out-of-date and unpractical to use any new hardware), but that in fact Vista is worth the effort to understand as its potential power is much greater than XP has ever even dreamed to have!!

That is true Jeddess. I can't believe there are groups of people passing petitions to deliver to Microsoft to "make" them keep XP. Move on people. The past is gone....look to the future. That's where your future will be.

REALLY!?!?! Now THAT'S RIDICULOUS, I mean okay, the reason why I joined this Forum is because I am indeed have troubles with Vista, but hey, isn't when we are have anyways, I mean it does p*ss me off when I've got some OS related problems, but it is sooooooo much more gratifying once you (or useful admins like Brink) are able to finally work through that problem (or assist another troubled user), and finally get to understand your OS a little better. It's almost therapeutic to cuss and swear away at the keyboard while getting through new problems presenting themselves!

But overall, you'll still encounter the odd doozie in XP, just might as well pioneer the doozies and solve them and what is honestly trouble-free, trouble is only our way of blaming an incapacity at doing something right? A trouble is only as deep as you make it!!

Hiya everybody!! I got my Vista Ultimate last year but I still prefer XP (FTW!!) because I got more problems than a cockroach in a chicken party (just imagine it).

Now I stick with Linux, more spec with Ubuntu, even if I have problems making some hardware and software it's have been a good experience learning a new OS from scratch.

I think something there's not OS without problems, even the acclaimed Mac from Apple has a lot of problems!! But is good to know that you can solve the problems on every system that you use, only the platform is the one that changes.

PD: BTW my fav WinOS is Windows 98 first edition, was the only Windows that has not showed any BSOD in my life :D
