Issues with GeForce 8600GTS in Vista Ultimate x64

Help!

I just upgraded from an ATI card to two XFX GeForce 8600GTS video cards. SLI is enabled, the SLI bridge is installed (from ASUS) and configured correctly.

The problem I'm having is that when I try to bring my computer out of sleep or hibernation mode, there's no video output. I've been Googling my little heart out, but all the solutions listed are for Windows XP 64-bit and haven't worked for Vista 64-bit (mostly for obvious reasons).

I thought (hoped) the driver that was released yesterday (8/12/08) would solve the problem, but it didn't.

I'd hate to send these back, considering that they're -- so far -- the only video cards that appear to have escaped nVidia's recent GPU grief.

Configuration:
  • AMD Athlon FX-62 Dual-Core 2.8GHz Processor
  • ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition, BIOS 2001 (most recent)
  • XFX GeForce 8600GTS XXX Edition 256MB 128-bit DDR3 730MHz PCI-E Dual DVI/TV-Out SLI-Ready Video Card (x2)
  • Corsair HX620W SLI-Certified Modular ATX PSU
  • 4GB (4 x 1GB) Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 DDR2 PC2-6400 SLI-Ready Memory
  • Vista Ultimate 64-Bit SP1
Thank you in advance for your help!

P.S. I'm new here, so try to keep the snarky comments to a minimum. kthxbai.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
  • Yes, my ASUS board is using the most current BIOS
  • I'm using a single DVI-D connection from the CPU to a LCD monitor
  • This problem is still occurring even after a clean install of Vista Ultimate
  • I did not have this problem prior to installing the nVidia cards
  • For some reason, this board won't allow for the onboard APM to be disabled. It's currently set at S1&S3. Someone suggested to set it at just S1 or S3. Neither had an impact on the issue.

This is a known issue and the culprit is most likely Nvidia Graphics drivers.
MS and Nvidia (and a few others I guess) are working on nailing this down, it seems to have become more prevalent after SP1 has been installed too.
Just stay away from Sleep or Hibernation until this issue has been addressed by the offending vendor. If I see the fix released on any of the sites I'll post it here for all the folks here who have this problem.

thats to bad.. Maybe it's the cards.

With that system you got there, why get something as weak as the 8600GTS anyways? they were what, maybe $80 a piece.

One 8800GT the new 512mb version is better than two 8600GT's.

the 8600GTS has 32 Steam Processors, the 8800GT has 112. so one 8800GT is much much better, it's faster. about the same price, and you'd probably not have these problems, as SLI has much more problems than jsut single card solution. I know you just got them, but if you can return. I'd strongly recommend getting a 8800GT or GTS. but make sure it's the 512mb version.

Read this. It helps explain that one 8800GT is better than 8600 SLI.

I think your problem might disappear. and you'd have better performance, and less heat in your system. and for a good price as the 8800GT's are very very cheap these days. Check out these prices.

I'd get a cheap PNY for 119.00 and youd be saving money over the SLI's. or go down a few to the eVGA that's $154 that comes with Crysis for free. Can't beat that.
