Hello everyone,

So I turned on my PC this morning ( vista 64 bit ) and I could not connect to the internet. I hover my mouse over the little internet connection icon in the botom right hand corner and it says local access only. Has anyone else had this problem? Is more information required ( more than likely ) jsut let me know. This is jsut another reason to have vista.

Neil

P.S. I didnt do anything out of the ordinary.

yes, we respect your opinions on vista, unfortunaely we can only help you if your optimistic about fixing the issue, please keep vista bashing to a minimum (you are in VISTA forums).
Now thats cleared up, can you right click the connection icon and go to network and sharing center, and then click on the red x over the network map at the top, it should be where the blue arrow is pointing on the image below.

Oke doke,

So... I clicked on the red cross and it came up with a window titled "Windows Network Diagnostics." There are three options

1) Plug a cable into the network adapter "Local area Connection 2".
2) Automatically get new IP settings for the network adapter "Local Area Connection."

3) A problem with your network router or broadband modem might be preventing an internet connection

none of these seem to work

What next?

Thanks for any / all help!
Cheers
Neil
