i've set my laptop to auto-connect to a wireless network, but it'll ask for identification because it's a secure network. is it possible to automate the filling process too, so that i don't have to type everytime? i have to enter my username, password and another field which i can't rem. >.< there is a check box on the prompt pop up screen which says that the above information can be saved when checked, but it's greyed out, so i couldn't check it.
sorry if there's another thread of the same kind elsewhere, but i don't know where to find help of this type.

Down in the right corner of your monitor near your time in your system tray should be a network icon for wireless connection. Right click on it, select connect to, or view available wireless networks, select your network and enter the WEP or security key you got with your router, if you are unsure of your key consult your routers documentation or the router manufacturers website on how to obtain that info. Once you connect and input the key you should be on the network and receive a valid IP and be able to browse.

Try this out!

er, i can auto-connect. but i want to make my username and password for secured networks automatically filled in for me, so i don't have to keep typing it everytime i want to connect. it's esp bad when the laptop just doesn't seem to accept my correctly type username and password, causing me to enter multiple times before finally connecting.

Unless there is a remember password box and you have set windows or IE to autofill I don't think what you are asking is going to be possible. I could be wrong though. :P

er.. here goes..

security type: 802.1X
encryption type: WEP

choose a network authentication method:
Protected EAP (PEAP)

[checked] cache user information for subsequent connections to this network

when my laptop automatically finds the network, it will show a notification at the bottom right corner that says something like "additional information is required to connect to this network". i'll have to click that and fill in my username etc.

I guess you use a special identification which has nothing to see with your Windows login/password. The greyed out box is (i think) related only with your Windows login.
If is is a professional or university network, maybe you have to enter your login/password each time you connect to the network.
