Cannot Connect Wirelessly

Recently I had to set my computer back to factory default thinking that it would go back to the way it was when I got it. However, when I did the wifi never lit up and everytime I try to connect to the internet to my router it says it can't connect because of some switch or code that needs to be pushed or entered. Well, I looked and there's no switch and I have no idea what code it needs. It wasn't like this when I got it and I really need to get back on my other computer.

Sorry if this sounds basic like ("I can't make taost?" --- "Is your toaster plugged in?"), but does your router have a wep key or some type of security? It probably does.... a quick way to tell is when you search for wireless networks, does it list your network as 'secured' or 'unsecured'.... Sorry if this sounds trivial, but it's a start...

I'm pretty sure it's not the router since another computer connects fine to it. When I go to the list of networks like I used to nothing shows up and that's when it tells me the problem is that the wireless connection isn't on.
