We have a Windows Vista Home computer which acts as a small central server in the house, I have a folder called Home, which is shared with everyone having full access to the folder. I currently have only 2 users setup on the pc who are local administrators, one is my own login whilst the other is a general login for others to use the shared folder.
When i first try to map a drive on another computer to the home drive it asked me for the user credentials which i entered and it worked just fine. The computer i'm trying to connect from is a laptop and has VPN configured to dial in and use the Shared folder as well. Hence the host file has the entry of the IP address with the corresponding computer name.
When i'm on the same network I now get System error 58 has occurred. The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.
When i connect using my VPN connections remotley I get System error 86 has occurred.
The specified network password is not correct. Although the username and password are correct and have been reset.
Any help will be appreciated.
