Unable to use VistaGlazz to patch

So far, I have been using VistaGlazz to patch my system files.
After I installed an update (Update KB971029) from Microsoft, I restarted my computer and my theme was reverted to the "Classic" theme. All other styles except for my default ones won't work.

"Your system files are different from the ones expected by VistaGlazz. This could be caused by Microsoft updates or other applications." [Back] [Visit Website]

This what it shows from VistaGlazz.
I don't want to manually patch my system files for fear of screwing up (I've screwed up before...) and to be honest I hate the default Vista Aero theme.
Any help here?

Does uninstalling the Update bring back the other styles?

I am not sure if that is the same update that caused the same problem for me or not. Uninstalling the update did bring Aero back. VistaGlazz then indicated that my system files were not what was expected but the "style" patch" still worked and enabled me to use 3rd party themes.

You should have the option in VistaGlazz to restore the original files and that should also bring Aero functionality back. Finally, though I am am not currently using VistaGlazz there is an update (2.3?) that supposedly addresses this issue.

Uninstalling the update helped.
Thanks a ton.

Most people i have talked to use UXStyle Core for applying unsigned themes, it does not modify or patch the system files but runs an independent service that allow unsigned themes to run.

I have linked a tutorial although it is written for Windows Seven it is the same for Vista;

Enabling Custom Themes - Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums

Although it says it is beta i know a lot of people who have been using it without incident since the early days of Seven,
If you want to try & remove your present method of patching which you will have to do before using UXStyle Core have a look at the Q&A at the end of the tutorial

Hope this helps could stop future update issues & you should be able to reinstall the update you removed ;)
