After struggling with my computer which had a boot problem and etc.
I fixed it and happily watched some video than suddenly the sound was gone.

If I put my little stereo next to me my ear, I hear a bit of static.

I have a Gateway 5626 with Vista Home Premium 32 bit.

As of presently; my Device Manager for Sound
- High Definition Audio Device
- SigmaTel Audio High Definition Audio Codec

There are no caution signs or anything.
Also when I tried to test my stereo- it says failed to play test tone.

Things I have done-

-I have uninstalled my old drivers and have reinstalled drivers from the Official Gateway Drivers.
- I have checked to make sure that I didn't mute anything.

Please, I'm about to go crazy

If the MS Support No Sound link does not help you, Try this ....

Right click on the Volume icon at taskbar > Playback Devices > Scroll to find the speaker icon when there is a green chekcmark nexy to it > click it > click Properties > Levels > see if the volume slide is way down to the left > OK
