Windows Defender-Turn Off

Windows Defender-Turn Off
I want to turn off Windows Defender in Vista. When I go to the Help page, the wording does not agree with my option. My Default actions allows me to Remove (or permanently uninstall Defender), which I would rather not do unless necessary.
My Options page is as follows:

Is there a method to temporarily turn Off or disable Windows Defender?

Hey Jerry,

A quick google search told me how.
Under Administrator Options, clear the selection "Use Windows Defender", and you're all set to go.

Thanks Mina and Dwarf –
Mina, unfortunately, your option (and wording) is not available on my PC. See my screenshot.
Dwarf, I used your link to “Disable or Enable Vista Services with an Advice Guide.” Using those instructions, I was able to disable Windows Defender.
Thanks to both of you for responding.

Your screenshot looks exactly similar to the one I provided and how I told you to disable it is exactly the same as how Dwarf showed you in the tutorial.

Am I missing something?

The wording and layout of your screenshot is different compared to mine. My screenshot does not have Administrator Options. As I read the options in my screenshot, it is my thinking it will turn off specific features, but not disable Windows Defender. The Default actions will allow me to Ignore or Remove. And, if I select Remove, it states it will uninstall the software

OHHH i see where you could have mistaken my screenshot from yours, I just scrolled down to show you the administrative options... your screeshot doesn't show the bottom half of where I wanted you to look.

That could have been it, it's all good, glad you got it anyways.

Mina -

You know, you make a good point. I have found in other issues my wording may not be the same as others using the same OS. My PC is a Dell XPS 420 series and, for whatever reason, it seems to be configured differently in some cases.

You're probably properly running as a standard user and not an administrator ;)

Well folks, thought I would update. First, I am running as Administrator. But, Mina pointed out my mistake. I feel stupid to say, but I did not scroll down to see the screenshot she posted. When I did, it was there. For some reason (who knows why), I did not think I had the scroll option working. But, when I turned Off and restarted Windows Defender, the scroll option was there.

Thanks for working with me. :)
