Antivirus / Firewall question

Currently running Vista64 on a HP DV9500CTO laptop, fully loaded with almost every option avaliable from HP. I love it, First thing I did when I got the laptop about a month ago is wipe it and do a clean (with out all the HP pre-installed crapware). Running great.

One thing I want to ask running Norton Internet Security 2008, and it seems to be slowing down the computer quite a bit. I am a road warrior, I travel a lot for work so I thought the Norton firewall would do a good job and seems to be fine, but again, it seems to be slowing down the system more than I like.

I went through the walkthrough section here on the site (I have been lurking / reading a lot here and decided to fineally register my account) and have seen some improvement from the tips there, but the main question is this: What do you all reccomend for a good AV / Firewall product that wont kill performance on this thing.

I use the free Avast antivirus program, and it doesn't slow my system down a bit or has created any problems. (32 bit or 64 bit)

I just use the Windows Firewall that came with Vista. You might look at these tutorials to help configure it for better security.

I have installed the free Avast antivirus a few days ago.

PC Cillian is another good one that doesn't slow down your system like Norton does, but it's not free

Ive been using the Nod32 64-bit antivirus and outpost firewall pro 2008 64-bit with no problems at all.

Currently running AVG Free and Comodo. System runs smoothly, no problems.
