Any ideas...!?

Hi,

I have a Medion MD96290 running Windows Vista Home Premium which I have not used for years. I tried switching it on but Windows wouldn't load, it just went to a straight to the old MS-DOS kinda screen and asked for passwords. Anyway, after going through many different screens and nothing happening I downloaded a Vista Recovery Disc and managed to get some more modern looking windows (!) got to the System Recovery Options menu and tried Startup Repair, however I was told:

'Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically'

Install the free Operating System
If you cant it a hardware problem.
