Windows Vista Ultimate . On complete backup, New bad clusters found on source volume. Backup of these clusters was skipped HDD (C:) (D:) [OX8078007D] Using Western Digital 500GHz External. The backup has been saved on External HD. Will this backup be okay to restore program files should I have a problem in the future? PC is about 3 to 4 years old and a successful backup was made at this time using about 13 DVD. Can someone give me some info on this problem. kenbon

Welcome
Test your hard drive, I think you may have problems soon. Back up as much as you can. Dont know if prior back up has saved everything.

Test Hard Drive

Hard drive scan usings SeaTools - SeaToolsfor Windows | Seagate - Both long and shorttests

richc46 - I have tried full scan with AVG (Now uninstalled) and then with Norton 360 with nothing found. Will take your advice and back up all important files. Thankyou.

The scan that I want you to take is a scan of the hard drive, to test for corruption. It is not the same as the scans for virus.

Seatools for dos is able to fix some errors as well as test.

I don't know if it runs on no Seagate/Maxtor drives.

Worth trying it.

If not, Western Digital will have a free app you can download from their website to test your HD.

richc46 Hi -- I have found the reason for the error message - 0x8078007D. It seems that I had installed software from an earlier operating system (2002) on the Vista. kenbon
