Black Screen ??

Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what i could try doing with my laptop. It's an hp tablet pc ( not a tablet! a tablet laptop).
The computer was running fine and i had turned it off yesterday, now this morning when i went to turn it on;
-I flipped the power switch
-The computer power turns on
-The screen does nothing and stays black
-The fan comes on really high for a few seconds and then slows to a really slow speed.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could try before changing the video chip ?

Here is a suggestion for a black screen, it does not always work.

May I suggest that you back up your stuff first using Ubuntu.
Use Ubuntu Live CD to Backup Files from Your Dead Windows Computer - How-To Geek
Ubuntu serves a dual purpose. If it works, your problem is software and a factory reinstall will solve your problem. If Ubuntu cannot install, you have a hardware problem

Are you able to install Ubuntu?

Are you running from your power supply (not the battery)?

You could try moving the screen back and forth. Maybe there's a connection problem.

Also, you could try cycling the switch.

Hello alishakcarter, why not start your own Thread and put in some details as to what you have done already to solve the issue, as you see from this Thread, the Original Poster is still being instructed by users and most are waiting on a response from suggestions already given .
