just god a new top-end audio interface and using cubase 4. I'm not sure which is causing the blue sceen. I've tried looking in the event viewer and can't see any details about the system failure. write debugging info is set to minidump.
is there some other way to check the crash info in a log? or what are the best settings for "startup and recovery". thanks

When you get BSOD it will display an error message, something like *x******* (where "*" represent a number) and than followed by quick description of a problem.

steinberg tech were asking me for a detailed crash log from windows (along with the one generated by cubase and in its respective folder)
i remember in xp i was able to save a log. as the BSOD only gives a certain amount of details.
have I got the options set right for startup & recovery?

If you check Event Viewer > Custom Views > Administrative Events it should show the BSOD codes, there are a few other places to get them but it should show up there and once you have them I can lookup the M$ database for the cause.
You can find the minidump file in X:\Windows\minidump folder (where "X" is your system boot drive, probably C
Check the "date created" info to make sure it's the right one that corresponds to your BSOD time.
