Bluetooth stopped working!

Hello everyone. I hope i have posted this inquiry in the correct category.

I currently use a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ56GN/B laptop. It comes with an integrated Bluetooth v2.0+EDR connection. It worked for the 1st year just fine but recently i have absolutely no connection with my bluetooth headphones.

The only change that i have initiated on my laptop since then was installing some software for my Sony Ericsson mobile phone.. i think after that i lost connectivity with my bluetooth headphones.

I have ensured that i am using an up to date driver (RFCOMM) and the device is enabled. Could someone please help out with a suggestion or two?

Oh... and i forgot to add that bluetooth shows that it is enabled however when i try to connect to any device it says bluetooth is not ready.

There are 2 ways to possibly fix this.

Option 1: I had this happen to my wireless card and HP said this would work with BlueTooth, and it you have a touch control for volume,media controls, etc also. Turn off the Notebook properly. Unplug from the wall. Remove the battery and allow to stand alone for about 5 minutes. What this does it remove the electric charge to the board to clear it of its "memory" that it built up. Put the battery back in and replug it in and start up the notebook. Check and see if this helped you out.

Option 2: Go into the Device Manager in the Control Panel and unistall the driver for your BlueTooth device. Restart the Notebook. After the restart go to Sony's website and get the most recent driver for your BlueTooth Card and install it. Restart again and test.

If that doesnt work then I am stumpted other than removing the hardware and reinserting it. Let us know how it worked out.

Just wanted to say thank you to Blackhawk7188 for your most helpful advice. I don't use the battery at all however after uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it from Sony's website it is working fine! :D

Bad news on the bluetooth front however. It only worked for a while.. and then stopped working!

I have since uninstalled the driver and reinstalled it and it always works for a short period of time however then ceases to function.

The only idea that comes to mind is that some software is in conflict. I uninstalled the Sony mobile phone software and anything else i could think of however still not luck.

Any suggestions on why bluetooth would be so finicky?

Sounds to me like its a hardware issue. If you can remove it and restart the computer with it disconnected and turn it back off...reconnect it...and try after that it might work. If that is still occurring it might be a hardware conflict. Contact support...if you still have it...may be your best choice on this one. Possibly a replacement device could be in order.
