Broken .exe files!

My .exe files are broken. I have read some forums and tried things they have suggested but nothing seems to be working. I have tried the notepad, .reg file, merge, registry editor, and it tells me "You can only import binary registry files from within the registry editor". I know how to do some basic fixes on computers but this apparently is something I need some help with!!! Can someone please spell this out for me or let me know the direct steps I need to take to take care of this seriously annoying problem? Thanks!

Well if I need anymore help I will definitely be posting here, my laptop seems to be a treasure trove of problems, I currently need a new LCD card or possibly a new screen, just removed the Vista Security virus, know there is spyware and malware lurking every where on this machine, not to mention the overheating. It's a HP Dv4, I guess infamous for having so many problems...should have done my homework.

Hi fabrielle,

Richard provided some excellent infomation. Let me try to cover some additional points to see if we can address all of the problems you mentioned.

Please explain in more detail exactly what is wrong with your LCD or screen (or graphics in general). At this point, we don't even know the problems you are experiencing so it is hard to know where exactly to begin in terms of identifying the cause or recommending any form of action. We could suggest some general procedures, but I'd rather try to understand the issue better first so we may be able to offer more targeted suggestions.

Although Malwarebytes Malwarebytes (the free version is fine) is excellent at finding and correcting many such problems, it really isn't for day-to-day or real-time use. What security software are you currently using (please provide every product with its name and version)?

Thanks and good luck!
