Ok as you may have seen from the title i am building a new gaming PC my budget is $2500 - $4000 just depends of heres what i have so far

Also for the GPU i may wait for the 58XX cards to come out.

so tell me if these parts are compatible, etc

also would i be able to run crysis on max if i get the 58XX series cards?

The reason why i put this thread here is because i couldn't find any other place to put it.

it all looks good except for your cpu.... (but i'm sure you'll stick with that :D )
um.... i'd wait for the 5000 series and as of now... there is not sure speed for them.... but i'm betting 10% to 35% faster than the 4890 so its worth the wait :D nice case choice btw oh look at the patriot memory...... the viper series to be exact :D and see whatca think

i'd get that over the other choice you had... :D oh... and if you want to get a fan controller look into the nzxt sentry.... :D
and also.... you might want to think about crossfiring that 4890.... :D if you don't wait for the 5000 series that is....

For that budget get a GTX 295 and a Core 950, ATI will not max out crysis for a while. You also should get a 1000w PSU.

1000w will easily future proof your system. NVIDIA is the best choice right now, also check out 1600MHz DDR3 RAM.

hey buddy..... you haven't read much about the 5000 series have you? as soon as they come out nivida will be far behind and will not even be close to the best choice
and unless your putting nivida's power hungry cards in sli you will never need 1000 watts
but a modular power supply would be a good idea it always makes for a nice build :D

Two 4890's at 1920x1200 with 16AA maxed out? That won't happen. One 4890 can barely hit 40fps at that resoution with no AA.

well a 295 won't do it either then.... a two 4890's crossfired (which is equal to the two core 295) are faster than a 295, and a single 4890 is faster than a Geforce GTX285,
also the new 5800's series cards will be at least %30 to %50 faster than a HD4890, and i've heard that it may be as fast as two 4890's crossfired.... i'd wait for that card, but if not two 4890's (or if you really wanna take it to the max get three) would be perfect and faster than a GTX295,
and it will max out the graphics.... 48 fps (which is what i found for a bench) is considered more than playable

A GTX 295 can play Crysis at 1900x1200 with 8xAA over 50fps.

on sli it can but with just one you get 35 @ 1680x1050,
here is the benchmark to prove it

and note in this one, the 4890 they didn't run in crossfire,

your gtx 295 gets 30 at that res with 8xAA, only when you get two or three of them and put them on sli do you get that many frames

You're making it seem Nvidia has no plans for any new cards. Demos of the next card are rumoured to be released any time this month, Nvidia have the chips built and are ironing out driver issues with the card.

If the cards have stuck to the specification list that was released earlier this year, then the GT300 series has potentially 2x the power of the GT200 series.


And what you mean a 1kw PSU for SLI cards? You can most likely use decent 750-800watt PSU

everyone has said that they will be a flop because they picked some bad architecture, and only potentially for that matter the 5000 series has the potential to be 3x faster than the 4000 series, but that doesn't mean anything haha, and thats just to be safe never know what they might need haha

I still can't see why a 4890 with 800 stream processors can't push Crysis higher than around 40fps at 1900x1200 very high, no AA or AF.
