Solved Can you help with an XP issue please?

Hi

Just re-installed windows on a hp laptop and now when I boot up it shows Windows XP twice on the boot screen (30 seconds to choose which one). I click the top one and all is ok. I want to remove the second one, but there is only 1 windows folder in explorer.

I have looked at the partition and it is as follows:

Disc 0 24MB Unallocated 27.92GB NTFS.

How can I remove the second option that shows on boot?

Hi

It's so easy to remove a crap os from boot menu as all you have to do is to download bcdedit.exe and run it to install. Or boot into a working os then try the following:-

Operating System to Start - Delete OS on List at Boot - Windows 7 Forums

1. Click on start button then run command.
2. Type in "Msconfig", without quotes and press enter key.
3. From msconfig window select boot tab, a lines of available os are shown from which you are to delete the one which is not default.
