I have a file "n.avi" 805MB Video file, downloaded into my downloads file.
it will not delete and has been on my laptop for a month now. It slows play of movies, music etc.
i have followed your process to take ownership of the file and it still will not delete.
I have tried everything I know, i just do not get it.

Ive tried rebooting into safe mode by pressing F8 and selecting safe mode, it wont let me, it starts, then auto starts again and goes back into normal mode.
so doing it the CMD way doesnt work either. it says file is being used by another process.

any ideas on how to get rid?

ive scanned the item with McAfee internet security 2010, states its clean.
ive also used uniblue reg booster and no joy, file still present and will not budge.

Properties say I am the owner but if that is so, I should be able to delete it right?

Welcome to Vista Forums.

Download Pocket Killbox from the following link.

Extract the files to your Desktop or wherever you choose.

Double-click the Killbox red Killbox file. Enter the pathway of the file.

A pathway looks similar to C:\Windows\System32\sdfhl.exe.

Copy and paste that entire line starting with the "C:"

Set the program to Delete on Reboot.

Click the Red X.

Pocket Killbox will automatically restart your computer.
