can't set a default printer

Hi !!! Please i need help..., my computer doesn't detect my printer, I can't set a default printer! I don't know whats wrong..., but it only works with word office. PLease i need help!!! im getting crazy....no excel...or pfd prints....PLEASEEE!!helpp!

Before jumping off the cliff...take 2 steps backwards and tell us what is you make and model of your printer.
Please fill in system specs so we can refer to them if more help is needed down the road.

ohhh ...hahahaha....i just don't know what else to do!!..Ok ..it's ...a lexmark x4270 (4200 series) is a really a piece of crap...hahahhaa...but my boss doesn't gonna buy a new one...if the problem is in the pc!!.i read about making the default printer manually ...using registry editor??? i hope you can help me!!!

Here's the link for Lexmark installer.
Download this and then, if needed, go to Lexmark.com and select the 4270 series driver for your correct OS.
Post back if more help needed.

i have a new printer........but still doesn't work!!! can not set default printer.....can't print pdf ..or excel !!! any idea....what else i can do?

error with adobe reader: <before you an perform print-related tasks such as page or printing a document, you need to install a printer.>
error with excel :no printer are installed. to install a printer do the following.....

Do you still have the Lexmarx or a brand new printer?
If so what kind so we can look for the drivers.

I have canon mx410! But i finally fix it. With registry, just create a key on HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\..., (In my case, the Windows key didnt exist under CurrentVersion and had to be created. )and then.l..
Name: Device
Type: Reg_SZ (String Value)
Value: winspool,Ne00

(just leave winspool,Ne00 . delete the name of the printer)...restart.....and :D works...fine!!!
