CD/DVD Drive Problems

I have a Sony VAIO VGN - NR32M, Windows Vista laptop with a PIONEER DVD RW drive, I have burnt cd's but when I insert them into my disk drive, my pc is reading them as " Blank CD " . I have tried these disks that I have tried in my pc in my local library pc and it works on there.

My guarantee has ran out, so I can't afford to send it off to Sony to get it repaired.

Has anyone got any suggestions??

I have just brought some Blank CD-R's which my laptop never had a problem with when I first purchased the laptop..I have just tried to burn some data files onto blank CD and it doesn't burn the files properly, it stops about 3/4 of the process and says there is an error while burning the disc. Also it is making a weird noise which I can't explain.

I think my DVD RW drive may be buggered.Which is a pain, because I can't afford a external dvd rw drive at the moment.:(
