I would like to see a screen shot of Windirstat as requested above.
Im wondering if what you are trying to download is corrupt in some way. Do you have trouble downloading other files? If yes,
just try from another user account.

backing up the drive will be difficult my dvd burner is broken and dont have any external drives, where do screen shots save to?

Go to search, type snipping tool and follow directions
Do you have problems just with this one download or others, too. The loader of the download can be faulty?
Did you try from another user account?

i actually just tryed downloading it into documents and it worked, yes i have trye from multiple accounts, very strange..hopfully it goes 100% this time
