Folder Windows Keep Changing??

Vista keeps changing the format of my folder windows, both size and attribute columns. The folders also reposition to a position about 1/2 inch from the upper left edge of the screen. I have tried to reset them individually, using Properties>Customize "Also apply this template to all subfolders" in the parent folders and using Folder Options>View button "Apply to all folders of this type". After a restart, they still seem to change.
