Strange enough as it looks those rights look the same as mine and it works for me. Have you tried both files?

Yes, but now I'm locked out haha. Don't know how THAT one happened. I'm saving files (limited user accounts still work) and am going to set up the whole thing again. I'll do a clean install and that way ensure everything is cleared out.

Only thing that is different seems to be that I have parental controls running and the computer got a couple viruses, but on the limited user account end. Don't know how it could have gone so far bad.

It isn't easy keeping young'uns from accidentally stumbling upon a bad site through a google search.

So I've come to realize that Vista sets you up on the Administrator account to begin with. I've since created another and disabled the all powerful one. Installed everything and it seems to be working like a gem, have access to everything. Thanks for everyone's help!

I've since put up more restrictions for the limited accounts to try and keep them away from viruses. Hopefully it lasts

After installing Vista Ultimate, I've found that it sets you up with the Full admin account enabled and allows you to create a second 'normal' Admin account. The created 'normal' Admin account seems to be very limited in what it can do, compared to the full admin account. It can't even log off other users through task manager, but at least now I can access gpedit.msc (local security policy).

Interestingly enough, After installing all updates and enabling live family safety, Every time I restart the computer, the network and MSE hang and certain computer settings programs, such as control panel, also hang. But some programs do still work, such as games and installed programs, and more. It requires a second restart and it all gets back up functioning again.

As well as this, I've disabled the Full admin account, but after every restart, a message pops up saying something about the password being entered incorrectly. I click "ok" and it displays the previously disabled full admin account only. I select "switch user", select my 'normal' admin account to log in, then log off, and then the Full admin account is gone and everything is back to normal. Before I disabled the full admin account, it was displaying 2 full admin accounts linking to the same profile. Hopefully this makes sense.

It takes a few minutes, but at least I am eventually able to get everything working in order. If anyone knows about these problems, I would gladly troubleshoot them if you show me the way.

I don't have another admin account only a power user account. For elevated privileges UAC will prompt me for the admin's password. Unlike some I don't mind UAC. Once you understand Microsoft's intentions in adding it you come to appreciate it's importance. Really the only difference between that admin and a typical admin account is that it is set up to bypass UAC something that can be granted to any account if you know where to do so.

I was using UAC and also really like it. I wonder if there is an 'elevate' button somewhere in the task manager that I missed that would allow me to log off other users.

Vista doesn't have the UAC settings option that Win7 has right? I haven't had any complaints yet, but I wonder how limited users are getting along with it. As far as I am aware, it only keeps installs and certain computer setting changes from happening without password, which isn't a problem.

I am trying to keep the UAC in place for the extra bit of security. And of course it isn't any big deal not being able to log others off accounts, all I really have to do is shut down the computer. This is only ever important when something is installed, so not often by any means. Thanks for the advice!

I haven't used 7 as much as Vista so I don't know about this. However when running task manager under processes if you select show processes for all users it will elevate the task manager to admin status and then you can log off users.
