Hi...I am new to forums so I am not sure if I am in the right place for my question but here goes...just bought a new laptop charger on ebay for my Dell Inspiron 1720...it's a generic 90 watt charger and its triggering a black error message saying: "the ac power adaptor wattage & type cannot be determined". How do I set my machine to recognize the new charger? Thanks in advance.

You should go with the manufacturer's (Dell's) charger rather than a generic. This one might not be compatible. You might also try contacting the generic charger's manufacturer.
