I will start off by saying sorry for any spelling mistakes as I am on my iPod. Here is what I am looking for. I am getting a dell inspiring 1750 for christmaswith vista basic on. My friend had lent me his vista
home premium disc he got with his dell inspiron 1545. Can I install premium on my laptop and will there be any problems.

Sorry, but you will not be able to install his Vista Home Premium on your laptop.

ONE, you have a Vista Home Basic product key number that will not activate a Vista Home Premium edition.

TWO, a OEM Vista version can only be reinstalled and activated on the same computer that it was first installed and activated on. The OEM product key number is permanently tied to only that computer once activated on it. It cannot be used on another computer.
