Solved Hi New Here! Have some questions.

I am not a big time computer guy but am learning more and more everyday. I have an HP DV7 64 bit laptop and have dad it since February. In order to try and speed up my computer I have gone in the task manager and msconfig and changed some settings since then and now the computer is running slower. I made recovery disks before I did any of that "tweaking" to the system.
WhatI want to know is .....is there any place I can go to get a list of just what exactly should be running in the background?
is there somewhere in the computer where I can basically just reset the system back to the default settings? I now have lost windows Aero and cannot access the colors in themes anymore.

Hello Birddude, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you made these changes to undo them.

no I no longer have that option, in fact I dug around tonight and discovered how to get Aero to work again

a while back I tried to install some cool themes and I guess I did it wrong and it messed it all up, I went through the list and found it
