Hi, does anyone know what this is?
After start up and log on a window pops up saying I have an error
it mentions "diamon.exe" -is this a virus or a program that should be working but isnt.
Hope someone knows

I would do a virus and spyware scan.

It doesn't sound good.

First, do what SCSIraidGuru said and scan for malware. Next, check out the tutorial (see option two for disabling/removing startup programs) http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/79612-startup-programs-enable-disable.html

Post back if this doesn't help.

Hi,yes sure of name,have done virus scans,nothing found.
I have tried system restore but no difference and when I reboot on start up it insists on chkdsc running,also when I try to make a backup to external hd,no joy,it says the c/drive is corrupted,ive no idea whats going on!

I searched the web, and the only mention of this file was in another post you made at computer interactive - Whats this? ... and another place about it being some sort of diagnostic monitor.

Have you recently installed anything (as recent as a month ago or more) that is a much older application?
