This is a continuation of this other thread- r3dfox, a modern Firefox based web browser for Windows Vista! (no extended kernel needed)

I created a thread at rededit on this subject, as suggested by Imacri and things were going smoothly. I got someone to tell me which button to select in the dialogue box that came up when I tried to uninstall 360Safe from Contol Panel. After I selected the button, I got another dialogue box as shown in the attached. In rededit, you can't post video, etc., in a comment so I uploaded the .jpg to dropbox and provided a link to it in rededit. I immediately got asked by the person who was helping me, why I posted a link. rededit has rules about links but I don't think the link violated the intent of the rules. Long story short, the 10 comments that I had in that thread got replaced by a "bear" face GIF and could no longer see or post any more comments.

Can anyone here, read Chinese and tell me what the selections are?

I found an image translator at Translate text from images and photos online – Yandex Translate.

It did a great job with the exception that it doesn't say which button on the bottom is yes and no.

I also translated a screenshot of what 360xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is in Control Panel/Programs and Features. It turns out the program
is called 360 Security Guard Speed Edition. Whoops!

Yes. Thanks. Was just getting ready to try getting a snip of those two boxes. Now, I'm hoping I don't get the "you don't have permission" result.
I think you provided a link to a page for getting rid of 360 Security. I swear Control Panel said it was 360Safe.............. Need to look back at that other thread.

It's gone! I had to translate two additional screens before finishing. I was fully expecting it to say I didn't have permission, as has always done. It also uninstalled a program called Operaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx where the x's are in chinese. That program was called Opera Self Start.

Hi wither 3:

Glad you found a solution. Just FYI, Google Translate (https://translate.google.com/) also has the ability to translate the text in .jpg, .jpeg, and .png images to and from almost any language. See the Google support article Translate Images.

I also translated a screenshot of what 360xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is in Control Panel/Programs and Features. It turns out the program
is called 360 Security Guard Speed Edition. Whoops!

I'm not familiar with all the different 360 product lines developed by Chinese company Qihoo, but the "Controversies" section of the Wikipedia article 360 Secure Browser (also known as 360 Safe Browser) mentions a hidden backdoor and goes on to state:

"High usage numbers may be due to the browser being difficult to uninstall, its parent product 360 Safeguard frequently recommending it and a warning pop-up that appears when a user attempts to install another browser, falsely claiming that the other browser is unsafe and should not be run."

AFAIK 360 Security Guard is associated with the 360 Safeguard / 360 Total Protection antivirus product, so it's possible that the 360 Security Guard Speed Edition listed in your Control Panel was a hidden PUP bundled with your 360 Safe Browser and installed without your knowledge. The "Malicious Promotion" section of the companion Wikipedia article Criticism of Qihoo 360 also states:

"360 uses software such as Security Guard, 360 Antivirus, and 360 Secure Browser to induce or forcibly promote the installation of the Qihoo 360 software suite... The Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce has previously issued administrative warnings against 360 Security Guard software for engaging in unfair competition practices by inducing users to use 360 browsers and preventing the installation and use of other security software through incompatibility and difficult uninstallation methods."

It's not surprising that you had problems trying to install and run K4sum1's r3dfox browser while you had a 360 browser (and all its related garbage) installed on your computer. Here's hoping the last traces of all 360-related software has now been removed from your system .

Thanks Imacri. I think the Security Guard was the reason I couldn't uninstall the 360 Browser. I think it's also responsible for deleting the .exe files for the Supermium and r3dfox browsers. I mean, the .exe for Supermium simply disappeared and I'm running the .exe that's on a second hard drive (nobody has been able to explain to me how that works). r3dfox was working fine for a week and then it's .exe was removed. After that, I couldn't reinstall either Supermium nor r3dfox. I'm going to try r3dfox again today.

Guess what- I was able to install and run r3dfox. Later on I'll try doing the same with Supermium.

I was able to install Supermium 124 and run it. During installation, it got hung up on something because it wasn't responding. I left my computer for a couple of hours and it said it was installed. Don't know how long it took.
