Solved I need Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail.

I hope someone can help...I need Windows Mail, not Windows Live Mail.

I currently have the program running on my Vista O/S, but want to install it on another Vista PC.

Strangely, whenever I Google (or Bing) "Windows Mail Download" I get steered to Windows Live Mail.

I really want the 2006 vintage "old" Windows Mail Program. The "About" section of the installed program shows a 2006 copyright and tells me I have version 6.0xxx installed.

That's what I need - another download of the same product. Does anyone know where I can locate a download of it?

Hello Dave, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Windows Mail is part of the Vista operating system. It cannot be downloaded separately since it is installed along with Vista. It is located at C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\winmail.exe, and there should be a shortcut for it in the Start Menu by default just like on your computer.

After you install Vista on the other computer, you will just need to update it through Windows Updates to have the lates version. It does not matter what version of Windows Mail it is since it will still support the other version's imports or exports.

Thanks Sean, that solves my problem.

Actually, as you pointed out, I really have no problem since when I reinstall Vista, I'll automagically get Windows Mail with it.

Yes, but you would be much better off using Windows Live Mail or some other maul program instead.
