Does anyone know if there's a way to run ie6 on Vista Home Premium? I'm a web developer and need to test my sites, but so far I've been unable to find a solution for Vista.
If you have a previous copy of Windows, Microsoft Virtual PC is free and pretty decent (biggest problem is lack of USB support). I use it to run XPx86 with IE6 (for school). I also run Ubuntu on it. It seems like a great solution for a developer to test many OS/browser combinations. All the while, your primary system is nice and safe.
Actually, I ended up running Virtual PC after all, and using an ie6 image. Even though you get a message saying that Vista Home Premium is unsupported, it will install and run. It's a little buggy, but it works for my purposes. This link is helpful is you're interested in this: Ajaxian » IE6 Virtual PC Refresh Now Available.
Hi Graydesign,
I am in the same situation running Virtual machine on Vista home premium.
How did you copied files to your virtual machine? USB is not available, neither Internet connection.
I've got IE6 running, but i don't know how to pass any files to the virtual machine.
