Search Funtion in Start Menu does not work.

My individual Search option does not work. The Search Everywhere does work. When I put in an entry in the Start Search box, such as Malwarebytes, Norton, etc. I do get listings of their programs. But I do not get listings of the Folders and Files I have created under those names. The same is true for other programs and folders. This is what I have done:

1. Rebuild my Index.
2. Ran SFC /scannow and Check Disk.
3. Ran a Microsoft Fix-It “How to reset user options and registry settings in Word #50599.

I use Vista Home Premium.

Thanks,
Jerry

After my original post I decided to take another approach. I was hoping to repair my issue with some sort of fix that would not be time consuming such as reinstalling Windows. So I did the next best thing. I use Norton Ghost and decided to pick a date when I thought my system would be clean and recover my C drive on that date. As it turns out, the date I picked was successful and when I did the recover process my problem was resolved and my Search feature now works.
