Solved jpg files

Goodday Folks:

My problem is pretty insignificant compared to what some of these poor corespondents are posting.

I recently reinstalled Vista Home Premium on my computer. (I've got to remember to run my AV on anything I download before opening it!!) and have run into something I've never encountered before. When I download a picture from the net or save an e-mail photo in either the .jpg or .TIFF format to my documents or pictures folders I cannot open them from that folder. I have to open my paint program and transfer the photo to that app to open it. I'm assuming I have either set, or failed to set, a default for these types of formats and, since it's never happened before, I don't know where to go to correct it.

Like I say, not a catastrophe, but a pain in the you-know-what. Any help will, as usual, be greatly appreciated.

You can dowload and merge the download in the tutoriap below for the file extension that will not open for you. It will restore it's default associations. If you have one that is not listed, then just let me know. I'll be happy to add it for you.

Many thanks. It worked like a charm. The link you provided didn't work but the tutorial was just fine. Now I can add these instructions to my "Computer Fixes" file so I can share them with others.

P.S. This is off topic, but an add popped up for some company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I don't know if you are located in that state, but I once worked for the Canadian division of a company located in Baton Rouge. I visited often and had a great time. I just loved the people and couldn't have been treated better.

Strange, you should not see any ads once you have logged in to the website. I'm not in Louisiana, but just next door in Texas. It does look like a great place.
