why is my windows freezing up and lagging when playing movies in vlc media player

recently ive been download blu ray mkv files and then watch them on vlc media player and sometimes when im downloading files and watching a movie at the same time my computer starts lagging and acting really slow its only 3 months old too

What are your system specs? If you only have integrated graphics...this may be the issue. You may be having issues with playing HiDef videos. Post the specs and it will make it easier to solve the problem.
