Solved Losing Wireless connection?

Hi, I am with O2 which has recently been sold to Sky. Prior to the sale I always had a rock solid connection ( several yrs ) on an SNRM of 3dbs. Not long after the sale I started getting drop outs several times a day. O2 spent three weeks trying(?) to sort out the prob , including having BT conduct a Silent line check on three occasions. Line was exceptionally good according to all three tests. After the 22nd or 23rd O2 techie had tried to sort it out I rang and spoke to a Line Supervisor and requested that the SNRM be set to 6 dbs and I would put up with the drops. I can reset the Router via the Router web page. After another couple of weeks the line suddenly settled down and the number of line drops diminished greatly, currently ( according to my line stats ) it has been up for three days.
And therein lies what appears to be a prob which prompted me to ask on here.
The two comps in the Task bar normally have a Blue disk showing that my comp is connected to the Router/modem, however I have noticed that it disappears now and again meaning no Internet, yet my Wifes comp is still perfect. So, the Router is connected, the Wife's connected yet mine drops.
Any thoughts?

Added: My Router/modem is set to change channels automatically, could that be the cause?

Change the wireless channel to 1 and see if that solves the problem. Can I ask, does this happen when connected via ethernet?

Wireless drops can be caused by lots of different things.

Hi Josh, I have only been using the Wireless for about one month. It was an option offered by one of the "23", O2 techies ( mainly 2nd liners ) he suggested using the TG582n as the older version that I was using was three version older than the TG582n. The only advantage being that the wireless speed was equal to the wired, and so it is. So I went wireless. inSSIDER shows that my signal is in the low 30s and my link score is 83.
I cannot say if it happens on the wired connection although come to think of it I remember several times in the past were I disconnected and yet my Wifes comp ( Acer laptop wireless ) stayed connected. Having said that I can remember several yrs back when exactly that happened on my older O2 modem/router.
Channel 1 is an option , but I'll wait till the AM to change it. Channel 11 seems to be the prefered channel as in it always seems to be there. I have seen it on channel 6 a couple of times.
Will get back in a couple of days re channel change.

Added. As I went to send the above reply I disconnected for about one minute and as before my Wifes laptop stayed connected.
Bear in mind she is connected to the same Router/modem so would that not negate the channel change?
Funny thing I disconnected again ???
I think I might try and change from Windows Wireless to the Belkin software.

Wireless has many variables just because one card can communicate well with a particular channel does not necessarily mean that another will. Each handle wireless interference differently. A better way to determine the cause would be to see if you receive wireless drop outs on a different wireless network. This will see if it is a hardware issue or a potential software issue.

When changing channel make sure you choose a channel other than the preferred as the preferred may be causing the problems. Proprietary software may help however wireless (IEEE 802.11) is a standard and any software should be compatible.

A problem I had before was that everyone's connection was fine on channel 11 however just my machines wireless card kept dropping out. A change of wireless channel resolved the issue.

Might just have the prob sorted. Have loaded Belkin software and as yet no drops. Been running for over 10 hours .
