As it turns out, this version of MSE works almost perfectly on Vista (You cannot update the definitions from the program, but it can do it automatically)

No, and you obviously cannot get it from Microsoft, which has only offered 4.10.209.0 for the last 5 years.

I have good reasons to doubt that statement, and cannot endorse the idea of using 4.4.304.0 on Vista now. That version was released in 2013 before Microsoft ended support for XP. True, it did not have a “time bomb” to prevent use on XP or Vista after their respective EOL dates. However, MSE was not very good in 2013. It was only after Windows 10 was released in 2015 that MSE became known as a pretty good antivirus (MSE 4.8 if I remember correctly). Also, Microsoft has no reason to care whether or not their definition and engine updates for 4.10 would work properly with 4.4, which is dead as far as they are concerned. I recall an MSFN post at least 2 years ago showing that MSE 4.4 was not very good at preventing download of a test file from AMTSO. (You might want to try that test yourself.)

One the other hand, I almost hope I am wrong about MSE 4.4 because you are using the extended kernel. Whereas the best thing about the extended kernel is that it allows you to use more modern and secure browsers than you could use on vanilla Vista, the worst thing about it in my opinion (having followed the MSFN threads) is that it appears to break what little antivirus support vanilla Vista still has. Soon after the latest version of the extended kernel was released, an Avast user posted to say “Avast Antivirus REALLY doesn’t like the new version.” I wish he had given more details, because Avast 18.8 is a good choice for vanilla Vista and I believe it worked with earlier versions of the kernel. Soon after that, a Kaspersky user reported crashes. (He uses legacy version 18.0.0.405 that supported vanilla Vista, but he also had problems with earlier versions of the kernel.) If there is an antivirus that actually works well with the extended kernel now, no one at MSFN has bothered to mention it yet. Perhaps those guys are just too smart to need an antivirus?

Well if you don’t really need a good antivirus, then MSE 4.4 might be perfect. Since you are using the extended kernel, I’m sure your Vista has SHA-2 support. (The definition updates have been signed with SHA-2 for about 2 years, which might be an obstacle for some forum members.) Good luck!

Automatically? Microsoft actually blocked automatic definition updates for Vista even longer ago than they started using SHA-2. My guess is that Microsoft’s servers can no longer recognize your system as Vista thanks to the latest extended kernel, and treat you just like a Windows 7 user. Vista users who are not using the extended kernel would have to manually download and install definition updates.

Nope, it worked for me before i installed Extended Kernel, maybe it is because i have the iv430x (something like that) patch that makes Windows Update work, i used the patch to update from SP2 blank to fully updated 2017 vista

Yes, that hack might possibly explain it.

Regarding your search for a Spanish version of MSE 4.4.304.0, you might want to try Wayback Machine if it goes back to about early 2014 (which I doubt, but I haven’t ever used it very much). I have enjoyed chatting with you today. I don’t think I ever said welcome to Vista Forums, so please forgive my manners.

MSE 4.4.304.0 came out in late 2013 (digitally signed by MS in late Oct. 2013), which is why that specific version may not show up in wayback machine and is only available for english language

The age of the version was already mentioned above on Dec 5, 2021. One thing not mentioned was that definition updates will probably end in January 2023.
