Monitor

I have Vista Basic; every time I start up the computer, the monitor flashes a black screen after loading all the desktop icons. Then when I go to a website, or even make a change in something, it does it again.

Why? I cant figure out whats going on. The monitors drivers are up to date; all the Windows and Microsoft updates have been done; all scans have been run to rule out viruses/malware etc.

What's going on, please? It's aggravating. Oh, and sometimes while I'm typing, doing an email or whatever, the monitor will go black for a couple seconds then come right back on.

Any ideas please?

This can be for a number of reasons.
The reason the monitor will go black is normally because the graphics card resets.
This is normally down to drivers.
There are new versions of drivers available here Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers
the version is 191.07

If this fails to rectify the problem then you can look at the error logs to try and find out why it is happening by;

Left Click on Start Menu.
Right click on Computer and choose manage.
Click on the event viewer.
You now have loads of options to try and pin down what is happening.
Expand the error tab.
Look for things in the last 24 hours.
